I have an unlimited data plan through AT&T the upgrade was only 15 dollars extra a month when they had this promotion it only lasted a little while because they lost alot of money threw all the data plans but now i want a smart phone and they keep trying to make me get a smartphone plan which only has 2 gigs of data a month i was wondering if i just outright bought the phone and dont upgrade my plan and stuck my sim card in it would they cancel my contract or charge me the data thats used by the smart phone or will my unlimited data cover the phone? i dont want an iphone i was thinking more along the lines of the new samsung galaxy s or an htc windows 7 phone

    Re: smart phone

If you use an ATT branded smartphone or any other phone AT&T recognizes as a smartphone, you are required to get the smartphone data plan. It does not matter how you obtain the phone. The Smartphone Data Plan requirement applies to use of the phone and is not tied to any contract.

By the way, the proper word is "Through" and not "threw" in the context in which you are writing.
