I need help finding some answers about cancelling my two year contract with AT&T. I want to join my husband on his T-Mobile plan and hop off of my parent's plan.

First of all, I have a line on a family plan (not the primary, one of the additional) and I have 9 months left on my contract. I've been trying to contact someone from AT&T to get information on how much it would cost for the early termination but since I'm not the primary account holder no one will talk to me. It's really frustrating.

Any help that you can give me would be awesome. I don't have one of the phones listed under the advanced category, just a regular call/text/camera phone.

    Thanks!

Basically, the ETF was $175 less $5 for every month the contract was in force. 24 - 9 = 15
    15 * $5 = $75. $175 - $75 = $100. Your ETF should be $100.

    From AT&T website.
New and renewing AT&T wireless customers who entered into a 1- or 2-year Service Commitment prior to June 1, 2010, have an Early Termination Fee (ETF) of $175 less $5 for each full month of Service Commitment completed.

New and renewing AT&T wireless customers who enter into a 1- or 2-year Service Commitment on or after June 1, 2010, and include certain specified equipment, have an ETF of $325 less $10 for each full month of Service Commitment completed. Otherwise the ETF is $150 less $4 for each full month of Service Commitment completed.

Since it costs $9.99 per month for the secondary line, it would cost $89.91 to keep the plan. Why not transfer your number after the contract is up? It would cost you $189.91 to cancel the AT&T line and get a T-Mobile line but $100.00 less if you wait.

If you are willing to lose your AT&T number, you could get a new number with T-Mobile and let your parents keep your old number.

That would have been hard to do over three years ago before the T-Mobile initiative. In any case, the Original Poster has either paid the ETF or waited the nine months to cancel service without penalty. It is dirty pool to inject an advertising message into a thread without full disclosure.
