I work for a nonprofit trying to save money. We have a BlackBerry 9300 that I'd like to get unlocked and move to a T-Mobile monthly no contract plan. I know you can do it - but would appreciate your advice on what problems we should expect and what we will need to do to solve those problems so the BlackBerry will function well on the T-Mobile plan.

You won't be getting any problems in unlocking a Blackberry 9300 unless it is a safe method of unlocking. Unlocking a mobile phone using unlock code is the safest method to unlock. You can get the unlock code for a Blackberry 9300 from www.****/blackberry-9300/rs11wp9/ at affordable cost.
Here are the steps for unlocking a Blackberry 9300,
1 - Switch ON your Blackberry 9300 with your current network/service provider's SIM card.
2 - Using the menu go to Settings Menu -> SIM card and press select.
3 - While holding the SHIFT key, type mepd.(NOTE: You may not see any text appear on the screen while typing mepd)
4 - You should now see the five locking categories listed.
5 - While holding the SHIFT KEY, type mep2.(NOTE: You may not see any text appear on the screen while typing mep2).
6 - Release the shift key.
7 - You will now be prompted to enter the Network MEP code. (it will also state how many attempts left)
8 - Enter the Unlock Code.
9 - Enter Return/Enter.
10 - The Blackberry 9300 should then be unlocked.
