question about ATT prepaid go phone

Hi, I have a family member comming to live with me from another country and while he is here I am planning on getting him an ATT gophone, the prepaid cell phone that uses a refill card. I figured I would get him the very simple Z221 flip phone, it doesnt have to be anything fancy just good enough to make and recive phone calls. He will be staying with me for 3 months so im planning on using the $25 a month plan to refill each month. I was just curious if anyone can give me and advise or tips on using a prepaid phone? It will be my first time and was curious to know if there is anything i should know? Do the gophones use sim cards? can i purchase the phone on ebay from a seller and take it to an att store and have them supply me with a sim card and purchase the refill from them? sorry for all the questions, thanks ahead of time

Unless you already have a compatible phone, the simplest solution is to purchase a GoPhone kit from an AT&T store, a supermarket, a pharmacy or a convenience store.
