For the record you did not buy the data cable from us at The Phone Mall.
It's important that I mention that because..
Certain models of the 89xx, especially the 8910, will power off when you plug in the cable. Giving you only about 2 seconds of actual connection time with BitPim before the phone reboots.
When you unplug the cable- Your phone will work as usual.
This is due to the fact that you do not have an Audiovox 8910 cable.
Sure it fits and works, however, the cable was designed for another phone (vx6000 specifically) and has, please tell me if I am correct or not, a bulge in the cable. This bulge is a charging device. The Audiovox 89xx series phones do not like the voltage that this cable is accepting and crashes itself.
This theory can be proven by attempting to use a vx6000 car charger on the Audiovox 89xx phone. Wont work.
The Phone Mall has cables designed for the 89xx series phones without a charging function that work perfectly for 89xx series phones. (Again, especially the 8910)
I am sure you can buy the right cable elsewhere.. just be sure that it looks like this:
