XV6700 Question

Hey everyone. I have been looking into the XV6700 because it seems like a nice, affordable phone I can use to organize my daily schedules. I currently own a LG Chocolate 8550, and I'm trying to figure out if the transition from the Chocolate to the 6700 would be a good or bad one. I have read some review where the call quality is criticized. I mostly use a bluetooth headset and I am unsure if that would make a difference when talking with this phone.

Any help on the topic would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: XV6700 Question

Thanks for the fairly speedy reply Ellen. What can you tell me about the call quality when compared to a LG Chocolate 8850? Is there a noticeable margin of difference? And will using a blue tooth headset provide for a better call?

Thanks so much again!

Re: XV6700 Question

Ah superior sound quality alone does sound very appealing. Thanks for all the help thus far. I will probably look into the phone in later days, but if any XV6700 owners can shed some light on their experiences with the phone, I would be extremely appreciative.

STEER CLEAR! (From a man who has owned three...)

Sorry, these are BUGGIER than the Okefenokee Swamp.

I bought mine originally because I disliked being raped by Verizon on their MP3 download charges. Also it was especially attractive since I had a ton of ancient converted MP3s that will never be available otherwise and getting them to play on many phones is almost impossible.

With the 6700, transfer them to a mini SD card and pop it in and go.

UNFORTUNATELY... it soon became apparent the machine was plagued by lock ups. By which I mean, you select some file from a menu on a card and it fails to play, load, execute, etc. It simply turned the "select" color and refused to perform its basic function. In fact, it was extra maddening because you could do almost anything (edit, move, rename, etc) OTHER than open, play, etc....
(And yes, this was checked with numerous different cards, file types, etc.)

Frequently, the battery would have to be removed altogether to reset the unit and it would work fine for a hour, a day, two, but would ultimately just get stupid again out of nowhere.

Verizon finally traded me for a replacement. ($50 charge.) Same thing.

Plus, within six weeks the speaker phone function bit the dust.

Another exchange.

Same basic card and file problems. But now, after four months, this one developed the CHARMING HABIT of ALARMING REPEATEDLY.

Somehow it decided that it should GO OFF FOR ***EACH AND EVERY ALARM AND REMINDER THAT HAS ***EVER*** BEEN SET ON IT(!!!)***

EVEN WHEN EVERYTHING (THE ALARMS NOT THE SOUND) HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. SOFT RESET. HARD RESET. BATTERY REMOVED. LITERALLY *DOZENS* OF NON-EXISTENT ALARMS AND REMINDERS GO OFF PER DAY.

THE GOOD OLD 6700 IS NOW IN MANY, MANY, MANY PIECES OUT ON MY BRICK PATIO - ONLY BECAUSE I COULDN'T PUT IT IN THE BOWELS OF HELL WHERE IT BELONGS...
____________________________________________________________

DON'T EVEN ***THINK*** ABOUT BUYING ONE OF THESE!!!!!

You've been warned....

Re: XV6700 Question

Though I'm a 'Newbie' to this Forum, which I allready think is Great, and fairly new to the Windows Mobile Family, I think the XV6700 is the Best. And that's not just because I'm w/ VZW, but have been w/ them and a member of howardforums.com for a LONG time; long enough to have somewhat of an understanding of their Handset capability Restrictions ( Though I don't agree w/ all of them ) as well as their noticable difference in pricing. First, as far as pricing, we've all heard the term 'You get what you Pay for' and Yes VZW is more expensive in many areas, but the Reception and Coverage is outstanding. In the 6 or so years that I & the Dept. I work for, I personally have not lost / dropped one call. And that is State wide as well as a number of Various Altitudes as I fly w/ DPS Ranger, belonging to a State Police Dept. As far as the Original Question, sorry for getting off track. My memory is about as long as my.... ah, Antenna. I also have the XV6700 and I love it ! No problems (yet) the Data Support Team is Top Notch, and many other Qulity Pluses. Yes, Sprint gets most of the press due to a restriction VZW put on the device, one which me personally will never use and the cost of the required Data Plan. Sprint= $15.00 a month Unlimited use vs VZW=$45.00 a month. But going w/ the VZW's Unlimited Plan, which I was going to go w/ anyways due to the useage I planned on exposing it to and I use my LG VX-8100 for Talk, texting, picture / video messaging purposes, I got an emmediate $100.00 discount off the Device for going w/ the Unlim. Plan. While Sprint, from what I've read, researched and even told by Friends who are w/ Sprint, they too have their share of 'Hidden' costs thru different available features and 'Untold' extra charges for Data useage. Now all of this is coming from one Man's Opinion (Mine) and you, obviously need to make up your own mind. And I also have Nothing against Sprint nor their Customers. Just my 37.5 Cents!
