    Is there anywhere on line I can look to find out what area a land line
    number comes from? A friend of mine is getting an unknown caller on his
    mobile and would like to know where abouts it is coming from.

    The number starts with 036428xxxx

    Wanna provide an extra digit or two ?

    That shows up as quite a few places in Tasmania in the
    DTMS Aust on Disk, 2.5K residential, 350 business.
    Many of the residentials have Beach in the suburb name.

    can be useful on that.

    Looks like most of the lines are in Forth and Port Sorrel Tas, tho
    there are lots of smaller places there too from the DTMS below.

    The vast bulk of those are in Wesley Vale. The rest are in
    Northdown, Latrobe, East Devonport, one in Port Sorell.
    11 business, 58 residential.

    That narrows it down to 2 families up that way. Well they were 2 families,
    now all the one family since the wedding the other day

    Sounds a bit like Colac VIC. 15,000 people live there. 12,000 are
    related.
