I have recently switched to iSIM. Best thing I ever did!
I am trying to use WAP. My phone is quite capable of using WAP, Motorola
E398, I have used WAP on Optus before.
I thought that the settings were on the sim and that it should already
be set to work. I must we wrong! On my account on the iSIM website, it
says that GPRS and WAP are activated.
Can anyone help me with the settings the WAP profile should be set to?
i.e. GPRS APN, port, Gateway IP
Thanks

www.isim.com.au
'Need Help?' - 'FAQ - GPRS' - 'How do I activate GPRS?'
Q: How do I activate GPRS?
A: Firstly you need a compatible phone. You should check with your handset
manufacturer if your phone is GPRS compatible.
GPRS is automatically enabled on your iSIM mobile phone service.
*****here's the good bit****
Visit the iSIM Optus Zoo site to see how to set up your phone to use GPRS
for Optus Zoo and MMS.

Go to http://www.optuszoo.com.au and on the right side of the screen,
click on the Register For Free button, then do what it says.
Eventually, you'll be logged in. Select My Mobile, then Set Up My
Mobile, then Set Up Wireless Internet. Then, select Wap at the top
left. You'll need to select the exact brand and model of your mobile
phone, then select Optus Zoo Prepaid, then enter your phone number in
the +61 format.
If you're lucky, you'll get an SMS in the near future which you'll need
to install. If you're not lucky, and you don't get the message within a
few hours, go through the whole procedure again - it appears that this
service is frequently non-functional and the settings are often not sent.

Thanks... I have already done that.. I didn't realize I was supposed to
receive an sms.. Haven't yet! And the page didn't tell me that I would
get one. Hence, why I asked the question. I found it very hard to find
much info on this topic on the optus website.
They just want to shove an over priced ringtone down my throat instead!
I guess I'll wait a tad longer for the sms!

I seem to recall that you also had to send an email to Isim
support and ask them to activate this on your account?
Optus zoo is just the carrier - your isim account details
also shows if it is activated or not

forgot about the monkeys. i have never been able to understand an indian
over the phone, let alone me on a mobile and them overseas using voip...
when i had optus, very similar situation to what Pete describes. I got
several SMS/'service settings' sent via the website and a few (gasp:
Australian!) monkeys.
you will have to give it four or five goes for it to actually work, IME.

Dale,
It looks like most folk here are not exactly helping.
You asked for the settings for WAP service via GPRS on iSIM. Herewith:
Homepage: http://networker.optus.net.au/wap/index.wml
Session mode: Permanent
Connection security: Off (On if you need a secure connection)
Data bearer: GPRS
GPRS Connection: Always online
GPRS Access Point: prepaidyesoptus
IP Address: 202.139.083.152
Authentication type: Normal
Login type: Automatic
User name: (leave blank)
Password: (leave blank)
I use these are the settings for my Nokia but the main stuff will be the
same for a Motorola.
Good luck.

as the others describe.
It all works now!
Cheers to all!
