    Check out this feedback :

    http://feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayI...plies_auctions

We nearly became his next victims but all this neg feedback appeared
    suddenly and we got out.

The guy is a crook supposedly working out of Bundaberg but who knows.
He has email addresses of [email protected]
    [email protected]

Another way people became sus. was the varying id's and the second chance
    offers didnt come thru ebay.
But too late for some who lost upwards of $3000 each for payment of Toshiba
Qosmio laptops that never got sent.

He advertised as having 9 for sale, we bid up to $1500 for one but got
outbid by $1300. The winning bidder got nothing for his $2800 and all the
other bidders got second chance offers in the hope they would jump at cheap
    new laptops.
He got paid by bank deposit (DOH!!)
and then left people with no further contact. We spoke to him over the phone
(Qld land line) and he seemed genuine.

A few very pissed off people out there and the cops are gonna be involved.

Did I mention we nearly fell for it but hung off on paying immediately......

There are more details, email those on his feedback list for more info so
maybe word can get out. He apparently is very smooth and convincing.

Hard to have sympathy for people who hand over large sums of cash to
ebay users with newly created accounts and no feedback rating.

Feedback ratings are all bull****. Read my previous post. Anyone can make a
glowing rating in no time and never sold a thing before on Ebay.

Yeah, you can. As explained, I know someone who has. Never sold a thing
before and wanted to so got a bunch of friends together and they all got
multiple fake email addresses, signed on to Ebay and "bought" at the fake
auctions she held. They all put in glowing reports on her from all these
accounts. She had a fabulous seller reputation when she came to sell the
first thing she ever sold on Ebay, as a result.

    Easily faked.

Wrong again. You cant get 'a fabulous seller reputation' that way,
there will only be a tiny handful of references, and over a short time.

You just cant produce the THOUSANDS of successful
transactions over years that those that actually do
have 'a fabulous seller reputation' have that way.

In spades with high value transactions like laptops.

    > Easily faked.

    Wrong, as always.

I will agree that it is stupid to hand over large money to someone who
    has low ratings.
And while you can create a wuick rating of 30 or even 40 with friends
it will be easilly seen if the rating are handed out over a short time
with people of low rating status.
The ratings of 100 and over are usually attained by legitimate people.

Another thing to beware of on ebay is second chance offers. I recieved
one from some guy in the UK pretending to be the seller of a $2000
laptop offering it to me for my bid of $1250 as a secondchance offer.
Turned out the guy was a fake wanting to do a Western Union Transfer
(NEVER EVER DO THESE) while the original laptop was already sold to the
original highest bidder by the original seller.

In general ebay can be fun and cheap but be careful as lots of scammers
    out there as well.

Wrong. It IS easy as explained above and it depends on what you get out of
doing it as to whether it is a waste of time.

As Ebay is Scammers' Heaven, I would say there are a LOT of reasons to do it
    there.

Wrong as always, Rod. Sure CAN get a good rep that way.

If the last half a dozen sales are all that has ever been done by you and
ALL give a glowing report, what would YOU see? Everyone ELSE would see "Oh a
