Guys,
I'm new to Vodafone Prepay (the 'Red SIM').
I bought a $2 SIM at Big W and a recharge voucher. I've set up the account
using Voda's web portal but I haven't charged up yet.
According to myvodafone.com.au (which seems very unreliable when I try using
the sub-menus under 'My Phone' though OK for the 'My Account' sub-menus) it
appears that my call package is currently 'TXTer.' I want to use the "365
Days" bundle.
I've tried calling 1555 and selecting option 1 (recharge). The first step
then is to enter my recharge card PIN. I haven't yet done this and so to my
query. Do I get the option to change the value bundle AFTER entering the
recharge card PIN or do I somehow need to arrange this (maybe via a customer
service call) prior to entering the recharge PIN?
I bought this card because it seems to be the most flexible for
International Roaming on Prepay. From what I can see, Voda Prepaid works in
quite a wide range of countries and call costs are not too bad. Optus
Prepaid is expensive and only works in a very limited range of countries.
Telstra Prepaid won't roam at all. Also, it looks like I can use GPRS (WAP
for sure, Internet too???) at $1 per 5 mins when roaming O/S.

After you recharge you should get the option to change before you hang up.
Not sure about the first recharge though.
A few years ago the first credit which came with the card could not be
converted to 365.
Subsequent charges could however.
This was back before the $2 sim deals when you paid $30 for a starter pack.

Derek, thanks for the info. I've just performed my first recharge and after
entering the recharge card PIN, I was given the option of changing to one of
several 'bundles.' 365 was included so I'm now a happy camper - a full year
of service for just $20.
Not so happy about Voda's "My Account" web interface though... it's slow and
only partly functional.

It's bloody appalling. Each part of the web interface does actually
work. But trying to use it at peak times is as often as not a waste
of time.
Also late at night/early in a.m. is dysfunctional too. I suspect they
take it offline for maintenance in the wee hours.
Only time it works is when few people are likely to be using it.

There is a way to set up the service online? I waited for 30 minutes on
the phone to set it up, and then decided to hang up. Could someone give
me the link to set up a service online with vodafone?

If its such a stupid question, you will have no problems getting me the
exact link to the activation page to prove it right? I'm happy for the
question to be proven stupid mate, but where is the link. If you can't
find it though, what does that make you?

Re: Vodafone Value Bundle Change - Prepaid
Thank you for the information.
I admit that you have found the link. But I still can not locate it on
the homepage. I must be blind or, as you like to put it "a moron." In
any event, thank you for saving my time.
I really appreciate it.
