I am on Telstra mobilenet and receive many international calls on my
mobile (Nokia N70) from US, Japan, China, HK, Singapore. None of these
display the number when they call me, I get "Private Number". My number
is visible to them when I call them. I have no problem with Aussie
callers. Is there a setting somewhere that is not letting me see the
international numbers coming in.

No help but....
On my mobile the number is displayed as private though on my landline the
number is displayed as overseas.

(For Telstra anyway) CLI for incoming international calls is changed at
the gateway switch to a dummy number. No sign of it changing anytime soon.

Poor service, as always.

Why do that? Wouldn't it be easier to just pass the number straight through
to the phone?

Maybe they haven't worked a way of charging people EXTRA to rip them off
more?

If you havent yet invented something that doesnt exist in Australia, how can
it be poor?
Did you claim that it was "poor service" that CND on mobiles didnt exist in
Jan 1997, say?

CND is free on mobiles.

Not for landlines. Mind you, that depends on which way the wind is
blowing, so "right at this exact moment, there is no sign of it changing
anytime soon" would probably be a better statement.

Do you think that we will be able to see the originating number from
O/S? If so, that'd be great. It'll make it easier to tell which calls to
ignore and which to answer. We have relatives overseas, so it's ****ing
annoying when "Overseas" or "Omerrty" - that's how the phone annunciates
the word "overseas" is displayed. We rush to answer it, but it's some
****ing call centre trying to flog us something.

More specific, perhaps. Still means the same as the original, which to
the non-pedants and the not-so-obtuse, means the same. That there is no
evidence of change at the moment.
