I downloaded a small application from the Sourceforge.net archive. It's
a Java app for a mobile phone. However, I'm buggered if I can figure out
how to install it.
The phone's a Samsung A-501 NextG phone. It has two files each as the
extension .jad and .jar. I downloaded them in a ZIP file and had to
extract them to the hard disc.
The PC Studio phone software will allow me to copy the files to the
phone, but I can't do nothing with them, once there. The app has no
instructions on how to install it, either.
I do not wish to be forced to go through Bigpond's game download service
for which you have to pay.
So, any suggestions are most welcome.

It's quite possible that the application you downloaded is not suitable for
your phone, or the files are corrupt. I remember having similar problems
with my Sony Ericsson and some apps, some worked and some didn't.
They didn't install in another Menu or sub Menu somewhere else?

I've since discovered that The Samsung can only install apps via a
server designed for the purpose. I also found this site with lots of
useful info and a link to such a server:

That's a bit of a pain in the arse, maybe someone will come up with a hack
to get around it soon, anyway, hope it works out for you.

Thanks. I've found a couple of other sites since then, and have had
others send me links. However, the basic aim of this exercise has yet to
be met - get a decent organiser for the unit...
I'm looking for a service that allows me to browse the internet privately
