My currently (disappointing) phone is a Motorola c130 (from memory) ..
until then I had always bought Nokia and have never been disappointed
with them .... thought about the aldi one, but nup, Motorola have had
their go at me.

Yep, that's what I did (after calling telstra anyway), worked fine and
its much better than the motorola that died ... it should be given the 4
years in between models though I guess.

SIMs operating at the voltage specified

Nope. The phone is guaranteed to work with the SIM provided.
Same argument for locking, the phone is not guaranteed to work with a SIM
not provided with the pack
