Hi All
My handset is dying and all I want is a cheap handset to replace it. If
I buy a telstra prepaid handset (Nokie 2610),can I just put my current
telstra sim card in it and continue on? or do I need to unlock it from
pre-paid to my current telstra plan?
Cheers

Should work fine. Telstra network lock their phones, not to the
individual handset, so any Telstra SIM will work in one of their prepaid
handsets.

I just noted that KMart wont accept return of phones for change of mind
purchases, so I need to find out for sure before I buy it. I guess I
*could* argue not fit for purpose if it does not accept my current
telstra sim, but kmart staff can be real dicks sometimes.

So buy it from an operation with a clue like BigW or Dick Smith.
You should be able to try it in the shop with Dick Smith.

Rod is one of about 19 million Australians who know it will work.
You still wanted further confirmation.
Rod, in a moment of weakness, offered some genuine, useful advice.
Take it or leave it.

Corse I do, that bit was answered by someone else, ****wit.
I just rubbed your nose in how to insure yourself if you arent
completely confident that the advice you got is correct.

Re: Will a Telstra sim card work in a telstra Pre-Paid Handset?
no they wont. Both DSE & Tandy will not refund or exchange any prepaid
phones if its opened (its printed on their receipt) even if its within their
14 days refund/exchange policy.
Also, it's at DSE/Tandy discretion whether they'll let u test it or not and
in all cases, they wont!

Re: Will a Telstra sim card work in a telstra Pre-Paid Handset?
Explain to the Kmart staff what YOUR purpose is. If they say go ahead, and
it diesnt work...then you have a right for full refund on return.
Write it on the receipt, get the sales persons name, jot down some
contemporaneous notes at the time...

They get no say on that if it doesnt work. Thats the law.
And printing it on the receipt is too late, they
have to say that before you pay your money.
And even the web site doesnt say that.

Dont believe that either.
And you can certainly return them with Woolys anyway.

Wrong again as always. Pity about the sticker on the outside of the prepaid
packs that says you can't return it once it has been opened, unless it is
****ed or not fit for purpose.

Threaten them with Tribunal action if they said it was fit for a partiocular
