Next time ask "do you work for Telstra?"

Oh tell me about it. Spent around an hour trying
to understand WTF someone in India was on about
trying to sell me (I think) some sort of BogPong/Foxtail
    combined plan.

Some engineer appeared with a cable modem prezactly
the same as I have, thinking I didn't have one. I think
at that point we were both as confused as each other.

I've at least since managed to get an unlimited download
plan with Hel$tra for the cable internet after a huge bill and a
"oh sorry - we don't offer the fixed plan any more, sorry
we didn't tell you" At least I got a $300 credit on my account.

What was really needed was new Foxtail digital STUs, which
    got in the end.

I tend to pay my bills with them, and leave them alone. Once
you get something to work properly with them - leave it well
alone. You don't want to mess with it.

I tell all phone spammers to go away, regardless of who/what they are or
    selling. On principle.
    If it's a phone spammer, it's baaaaad.

I hate telstra. when there's a viable alternative, I am going to get it.

If they're contracted by Tel$tra, then they work for Tel$tra. How else
could Indian call centres be used?

As long as the quality of the service is high, it doesn't matter where the
    service provider is from.

We shouldn't. The free market knows best. If a local job provides the best
value for the local goods/service, then it should stay and IT WILL.
    Otherwise, it should go elsewhere.

There's clearly no shortage of those with an unemployment rate of 4.7%

but is that the "real" rate of unemployment? They've been redefining
*unemployment* over the last decade. Howard has been masterful at
    plastering over cracks.

Irrelevant. The reality is that with an unemployment rate
of 5%, anyone who actually wants a job can get one.

    > They've been redefining *unemployment* over the last decade.

    No they havent.

Talk to some of the people who DO have jobs and this is blindingly
obvious. Guys who take off 2 hours every lunch to get stoned, girls who
type with one finger, sales staff who are surly, hate customers and know
    nothing about their products.

I shudder to think what the ones who can't get jobs are like.
