Next G handsets

Does anyone have any real world experiences with any of the Next G
handset that have car kits?

I've read the recent thread on the LG phone, so I guess I'm probably
enquiring about the Telstra 850 as neither of the Samsung models or the
Motorola appear to have car kits.

Some of the phones are offered with bluetooth headsets. I have a Nokia
CDMA phone and car kit currently. They can operate either with a cable
connection or via bluetooth. What's the possibility that another brand
of phone would establish a connection with my Nokia car kit?

Very good

The Samsung A701 has bluetooth - it works with my Nuvi GPS - just borrow
one from a Tesltra shop and give it a try

When I had it (for the 2 or so weeks I had it) my TU500 had no issues
connecting to my existing CK7W kit which is for my 6235.

I went to the trouble of installing the carkit for the LG, only to find
out what a pethetic excuse for a car kit it was and that our local NextG
tower has "ISSUES". Then had to swap the LG carkit back for the Nokia
.

Now every time I ring Telstra I get the usual "do you know your on a
CDMA service and CDMA is being switched off shortly. I just tell them
"don't even start with your NextG bull**** until you can come here and
PROVE the issues have been fixed".

I think I will ride the CDMA train out then look at whats happening with
NextG. If it still doesn't work, then a Southern Cross Telco GSM plan or
something similar at a low price may be a possible consideration and
keep the phone turned off in the glove box.

Samsung dont make a car kit, they use the same crap kit manufacturer that
all the other crap Korean phones use.

That would be the same as the LG and old Hyundai's. I was amazed at just
how similar the LG and Hyundai kits were, even though theyre near 10
years apart, they still had the same mic, speaker, connect box etc etc.
Just the cradle had changed. Yet the Hyundai interacted MUCH better with
it's kit than the LG does lol.

No, if the company wants to sell products, it should have a decent web
presence. In any case there's nothing in the manual that references
external antennas. Still, I will take your advice and give Samsung a
call. I just hope that it's not located off-shore. Could make things
painful, when talking about specific technical issues.

Surprise - whether off shore or not I do not know, but they spoke good
aussie without an accent
