i have a motorola V6 with a next g sim card, but on the display on my phone
it says 3G is this right or have they put me on the wrong network?

Next G is just a Telstra name for their 3G 850 network, the phone will
display 3G so you're on the right network, don't panic.

call up customer service and get messagebank roaming put on as well to
enhance the handset's various functions and improve roaming between 2g
and 3g networks. it won't cost you anything.
