Telstra's now-we-are-talking propganda website keeps rambling on about the
Government regulations and that the Government should be contributing more
funding towards broadband. What a nonsense. The management knew what the
regulations were when they took on the job, and I find it insulting that
they should ask for Federal handouts to expand broadband. Telstra is an
absolute disgrace and the reason why Australia is in the broadband "3rd
world".

I'll explain it to you in simple terms, mong. Telstra is a private company,
who like any private company, must put the interests of its shareholders
first. It's not the PMG, it's not a quango.
Like any private company, it lobbies government to improve its market
position. You don't have to use Telstra, you have a choice. I merely gently
recommend that people use Telstra because any profits stay in Australia.
They don't go to prop up some corrupt, nepotistic, human-right crushing
regime in Singapore, and they don't go to prop up some unwashed Londoners.
Telstra offer great service - sure, you could save a few cents by using the
foreign muck, but only if you like having your calls answered in Mumbai or
Manila and you're willing to sell the future of this great country, and
future of your kids jobs, up the river.

Sure, but I doubt the voters will actually be stupid enough to actually elect them.
They vote govts out in this country, and I dont believe that the voters
will actually be stupid enough to do that in the next federal election.

And almost none of the voters take any notice of it at all.
They vote on much more fundamental issues than that.

Pity for Telstra that Coonan and ACCC are indemnified by the Crown, hence
their class action intimidation is nothing more than hot-air waffle.
