850 North American Nokia N95 variant will be released here is Australia
next month by Telstra.
You won't just be able to use the HSDPA capability of the N95 within a
small radius of our capital cities like the original N95 but over the
full coverage area of Next G.

Mid November, it says. It will be interesting to see where the N95 is priced at.
I'm tipping that it'll be up there with the likes of the Blackjack, Treo and
A801s.

ie. unaffordable for the plebs...

I would. I've yet to see any camera in a phone that was worth a damn. In spades
with my current Treo's phone. Only good for "happy snaps" or close up shots.

For anything else, buy a cheap 6mp 3x zoom Kodak.

Much more convenient to have a decent camera in the one thing
you carry around with you all the time, even if the only thing you
take photos of much is stuff thats on offer when having a look at
whats on offer when buying something. Much more convenient
to take a photo than to write down the details otherwise etc.

Undoubtedly. Unfortunately, though, I don't live my life by what resolution
cameras are available in phones. Just that what I have used and seen aren't that
much chop.

Yep, for sure. eg. in the stupidmarket. Missus wants some exotic brand of indian
curry. can't seem to find it. See something similar. take a photo and MMS it to
her. She can then say yay or nay.

I understand that a top end Nokia now has a 5mp camera. Now that sounds like it
would do the job. Dunno if it has a zoom function or not. Mine does, but it's
digital zoom which is OK for zooming in on a photo while viewing it from the
phone. But as you'd expect, quality isn't that flash when you do that.

You need to work out how to find what you want when upgrading your phone/pda etc.

Its quite adequate with the higher resolution cameras.

3.2mp or 5mp pixel cameras in phones are no good?

Even my 2mp camera is quite good
