All I can say is that when a few mates on a dirtbike trip who stopped in Dargo
for lunch said that there was no CDMA signal at all. that was in or around
early-mid November. There was, however, a NextG signal in the town.

Which, as I posted before, proves nothing towards Templars claim.

A few people in the same location not getting a usable signal two to three
months ago is completely different to the claim by Templar, being that it is
"well known" that Telstra are deliberately shutting down CDMA sites to
    reduce reception.

If Templar's ramblings were indeed the case there would be a far, far larger
outcry than a couple of posts on Internet NG's and forums - don't you think?

There are only a handful of situations like that. Mostly in non-viable

Why would his CDMA phone not work on Jan 28th?

Telstra recommends that handsets be vertically held in the hand with the
    antenna extended, if applicable.

They will not work very well whilst concealed in prisoners anuses

Not specifically, but down that way and around the Rathdowney area
generally. I don't know whether it's handset related or network
related. We have 4 of the handsets, so I'd suggest it's a network
problem unless we happened to get 4 faulty handsets. I work in
emergency services and we use mobile phones operationally all the time.
CDMA works fine out there, but NextG doesn't.

Who knows why Telstra does what it does? It's one of those great unanswered
    questions.

What an offensive prick you are.

In any case, this "0.9%" increase could well be somewhere like the Simpson
Desert where it matters **** all in the grand scheme of things. What matters if
that the coverage is extended where people actually go.

It would be nice, if but a pipe dream, that Telstra coverage maps were actually
accurate and truly represented the coverage that people get and we could then
overlay the CDMA one with the NextG one to see what the difference actually is.

But that'd be asking too much, wouldn't it?

I'm tipping with kids/teenagers/people with more money than sense.

I was in the doctor's surgery the other day waiting for my wife. 3 kids, girls,
around 13-16. All had their phones out and texting away like crazy. The speed of
input would put a court stenographer to shame, so quick that they were.

That sort of expertise only comes with oodles of practice, which I suspect
explains their focus on what they consider to be the Important Issues of their
    lives.

I wonder what's gonna happen when their parents, hit by the interest rate crunch
and inevitable recession are going to do when the first of their luxuries, the
mobile phone will be the first to go. Or the parental financing of it, that
    is...

that won't wash with him. His response (and I've yet to see it if he's already
posted it) would probably be something along the lines of "it's his fault for
living in an area with no decent coverage." or some such rot.

The problem with most urban dwellers is that they don't appreciate the resources
that their standard of living requires and is only available from "the bush".
Whether it be milk, water, power, gas, food (meat, garden crops, veges, etc.) or
the resources that make this country as rich as it is - again, gas and mineral
resources, you need people to live out there. And if you don't offer them a
reasonable standard of living, then they won't want to live and work out there.
And these urbanites will whinge and ***** when they can't turn on their plasmas
or if the cost of a steak heads north of $50 a kilo.
