LU TU500 & my wife has a TU 550 & both codes work on both

For Field Strength Menu *748#96 then step down 3 menus (My simplistic
understanding is that RSSI is total wideband power received & RSCP is the
equivalent narrowband level of the recovered code - perhaps someone could
    confirm)

There is also another hidden menu (Engineering Menu) 277634#*# but change
any of these at your own risk

    Regards

Just tried it on my Samsung A501. Obviously it's an LG specific code, despite
the OP's suggestion that it might be a NextG-wide thing, with the exception of
    Nokias.

It's more or less, if not verbatim, what you said. That it "might" work on other
NextG handsets other than LG. But in this case it doesn't work on on specific
    Samsung model.

I missed the orginal post in this series, so I'm not sure how old this
is. I have a Nokia 6120C. The only time I get cell info is when it
    roams onto GSM.
