Corse if the union says it, it must be gospel.

Easy to claim. Hell of a lot harder to actually substantiate that claim.

Not when the unemployment rate is 4.1%, ****wit.

It must reduce their costs tho, ****wit.

Wota surprise.

Not if they just **** up the customer service, ****wit.

The union always says that. Sometimes they are right, sometimes not

Like any company I s'pose. Case in point - Blundstone. It's moved its operations
offshore. Yet, when I went to purchase a new pair of boots recently, the new
Blundstones still cost more than most of the other brands, including Steel Blue,
which I eventually got.
So, no savings were passed onto consumers. Just more profits for the company, an
ever worsening trade deficit and more people out of work in the manufacturing
industry.
I could say, thank christ that I'm fast heading for retirement but that doesn't
offer much comfort as our kids start having their own kids. I wonder what's in
store for my granddaughter in 20 years' time.. Thing is I doubt that I'll be
around for it.

But it now makes it 4.000011111% and rising. It's not the only mob which is
shedding jobs.

Why? Isn't four and half billion dollar profit enough? Like the ****ing banks
which are making close to five billion a year and they have the ****ing cheek to
ramp up interest rates independant of the RBA. What's more they sponged money
off the government to prop them up.
Surprised Telstra hasn't got its hand out, too.
What did one guy say recently, "privatised profits, socialised bailouts".
Anyway, it won't make much difference to us.

In the garment industry, imports have actually caused deflation in this
sector of the CPI.
The shoe company probably playing on the perceived value of their trademark.

My comment wasn't directed, especially, to Telstra......just to their
shill, here, who lauds Telstra as a caring, patriotic community minded
corporation that, despite being more expensive in some ares, deserves
our business because it is patriotic, caring, and community minded and
because its competitors are greedy, grasping foreigners.
Sarcasm was intended....although I prefer to call it "irony".

You keep spouting this ****, and it's a load of mindless crap.
YOU CAN'T JUST LOOK AT THE DOLLAR AMOUNT OF THE PROFIT WITHOUT LOOKING AT
THE SIZE OF THE COMPANY.
Whether you look at return on equity, return on capital, or return on
assets, Telstra's profits can hardly be described as obscene, or even
impressive.

Which banks have sponged money off the government?

Which banks have been "bailed out"?

Not in WA it aint.

They're always welcome to move to WA.

Because they dont have to pay those wages anymore.

Why should we pay any more than we need to for phone and net services ?

Why shouldnt they when the cost of the money they are
lending out increases by more than the rates the RBA sets ?

Thats a pig ignorant lie.
> Surprised Telstra hasn't got its hand out, too.
It has, its called the NBN. And prior to that it also had its hand out for quite a few of the cdma bases too.
> What did one guy say recently, "privatised profits, socialised bailouts".
We havent bailed anyone out.

Yep, with an unemployment rate of 4.x%, anyone who wants a job can have one.

There's plenty at $20 now.

Nope, they'll go bust, you watch.

Thats a lie too. Its actually quite a bit better recently.

The unemployment rate of 4.x% does tho.

Likely just as good or better than we have now.

I'd dispute this. At least 4.1 percent of the workforce can't get work (or maybe
don't want work). And a lot of them are people in their 50s. Lot of
manufacturing sector people now out of work who can't get new jobs because of
their age.

Hmm. Dunno. I've never really liked their workboots. Been wearing Steel Blues
lately. Much better fit and more comfortable, particularly dealing with my foot
problems (I have orthodic inserts, a result of wearing crappy workboots for the
past 30 years).

A poofteenth? Thing is, we're still importing more than we're exporting.

Nope. Gave up in my mid-20s. What scares me is the risk of asbestosis. Working
as a motor mech. blowing out brake drums and watching clouds of bluish dust waft
across the workshop causes me to worry about what may be in store for me.
