I currently have a 2-year plan with Bell that is about to expire and my question is, will Bell let me renew my existing contract for another 2-year term when it expires? My existing plan is better and cheaper than the ones offered now. Basicly all I want to do is renew my current plan and switch phones with the $200 allowance they give for signing a 2-year contract.

    Thanks.

For a 2 year re-sign, the "allowance" they give is only $150.

That said, yes, you can renew on a 2 year and keep your old plan (in most cases).

I called customer service today and found out that they will only allow a hardware upgrade if I opt for a current new plan. I like my existing plan but looks like I'm going to have to change it in order to get the hardware upgrade.

If your plan is that good, screw the hardware upgrade and just shell out a bit more money for the handset. Sure you'll spend more on the phone itself, but you'll save it in the long run with the plan you have.

    All depends I guess.

Yeah that's true Abom. I think what I'm going to do is stick with my existing plan for now and wait until there is a really good promotion that I just can't resist and then I'll get a new plan and phone. Although I'm so tempted to get a new phone now I will wait a little while, the prices of the new phones should go down. Buying a new a900 straight up with no contract is quite steep right now. I'll also look around and see if I can find a slightly used phone for a good price.
