hey =)
i need a new handset cause my current one wont live much longer.. im under contract w Bell but i dont care for any models they offer directly.
can anyone recommend/suggest some decent sources for unused CDMA phones? (other than eBay -im already searching there so far w no luck)
thanks much
btw initially i thot maybe i should post under general cell phones, but then decided to try Bell-specific. hope that's ok (this forum is great, keep it up )

Hi there jaxs,
What kind of handset are you looking for ? Bell is releasing new handsets this quarter, so perhaps something you'll like better is coming out ?
You are basically stuck with buying a Bell handset. Any other handset won't be allowed on Bell's network (a rep is not allowed to, and in most cases, is unable to due to Bell's ESN system).

Re: bell=poor handset selection; other options?
i figured that might be your response, it makes sense. i guess i had my hopes up from hearing of other people buying neat phones elsewhere & out of country etc.
maybe i should try to wait it out a bit - by this quarter do you mean the fall season?
im hoping to find something with a style more low-key, rather than shiny silver for exmpl. and i much prefer slides or intenna compacts to flip kinds.
the only features i would make good use of incl camera, txt msg, vmail, call id.
id really appreciate an efficient menu navigation/contact storage, decent battery time and a durable or even rugged body.
lemme know if anything comes to mind? or hey, what about older handsets that Bell doesnt show upfront anymore- would they be aquirable unused?
thanks bunches !jaxs

Re: bell=poor handset selection; other options?
The Samsung A640 comes to mind, this might be the phone you're looking for. It's black, not silver, has a VGA camera, OLED external display, and an intenna.
The Samsung A580 might also be an idea.
Both phones are released as far as I know, with stock being shipping to stores at the moment (so realistically, another week or two until you can go and look at one).
As for discontinued handsets, it's nothing that we could order from Bell, so unless a store bought a huge load of them and just never sold them all, you'll be hard pressed to find a phone that's been "end of life".
