Bell's $7 Unlimited Mobile Browser Plan limited?

I was pretty stoked when I heard about this plan because it works great when paired with the HTC Touch that is being releasedon the 15th of November. But I'm reading Bell's page on the plan and I'm not sure if it is indeed 'unlimited'.

It seems to suggest that you can 'surf all you want' but does Bell limit the sites you can visit? Some clarification would be great. I ask this because they seem to break it down into categories of 'surfing':

Messaging
News and info
Sports
Games
Communities & dating
Shopping

If you could browse wherever you wanted there wouldn't be any need for categories. And it doesn't say out right that you can only browser sites that they choose. Anyone got any information on this?

Thanks!

Adrius

My understanding is that anything but tethering is included and covered by the $7 unlimited mobile browser. That said, if you abuse it, Bell can and most likely will terminate your service on you.

I Have had the unlimited browser plan for ages now, and I use opera mini and do a lot of surfing. I have never had to pay anymore than just the minimum. If they did charge me more I would cancel my contract, because they would have broken the contract by charging me extra. If it says unlimited, it sure as hell better be.

Not included is tethering, roaming and excessive data.

There is a line that says "excessive data within bell's reasonable opinion", haven't heard of anyone reaching the "reasonable opinion" yet though.

Working on that right now.

There is no where you "can't" go but some sites are un-navigable on a cell or PDA. There are sites stored in the favorites and you can go to certain "mobile sites" ...for instance Toronto Star has a mobile page, very readable on a cell phone.

As mentioned Tethering is not included. There was a recent story from Calgary - sorry I can't post yet - about a guy who accumulated $85,000 in data charges for tethering and claimed he didn't know it wasn't covered.

This is a lie, it tells you while you are hooking it up. Plus you have to be a bit technically inclined to do that. Bell ended up adjusting his account for all of the charges except $3000. He's still complaining though. I think he should be happy he's not paying $85,000! He DID use the service.

Besides all that, keep in mind that downloading is not included. If you download games, screen savers, ring-tones, etc you will be charged. The browser will tell you what the charge is before you download.

Re: Bell's $7 Unlimited Mobile Browser Plan limited?

With my previous plan with Bell I had a Blackberry with unlimited tethering and unlimited usage on the device for $100 a month just for the data feature. I had used about 25GB/month with tethering and about 4GB/month just on the device.
Now that I'm on the HTC Touch $7/ULMB my usage on the device has still remained the same in that I use about 4GB/month. keep in mind that I have a corporate plan and I've also been with Bell for many years.
So, although I wouldn't recommend you use more than or up to a GB a month. It seems as though Ontario and further west in Canada you go acceptable use is limited to a couple hundred MB.
Be reasonable and everything will be fine.
