I recently purchased a Sanyo 7050 for FULL PRICE ($320). I purchased it because i needed a new phone, one that will withstand being dropped and abused on a construction site.

The other reason i purchased the phone is for the GPS capability. I was told at the Bell store that the gps was fully functional.

Turns out, after talking to bell and sanyo customer service for hours.... The GPS is not working nor is it available on the Sanyo 7050 at this current time. I brought the phone back to the store i bought it at and they informed me that i have 10 days to switch to a different phone if i want to.

before i do this i want to know. have any other 7050 owners in canada had this problem? I really want to keep this rugged phone but i want gps, maybe customer service is misinformed?

if i do ditch the 7050 does anyone have any suggestions for a strong phone with great reception?

and lastly, i heard they released an updated driver for the sanyo 7050's audio problems? where do i find these downloads and i how do i add them to my phone?

Bell Mobility does not offer a GPS service at this time on any phone.

well. that woulda been nice if they told me that when i purchased the phone.


soooo, i guess the next question i have would be. do they have any plans to rectify this problem in the near future?

Well.....actually, GPS is provided on two of the latest Blackberry's, I think it has something to do with them being PDA's.

Keeping that mind it will probably be available on phones in the near future. When, I don't know. Most likely won't be on any existing phones though, otherwise Bell would offer it now.

The monthly charge for this feature on the Blackberry is $10 a month.

If I find out any news I will post it on this forum.
