Hi all,
I have a contract with Bell and recently lost my phone. A friend of mine was kind enough to lend me an old phone of his (Nokia 6275i), but it turns out that his phone was a Solo Mobile phone. The people at the Bell store told me they cannot transfer the phone, but they provided me with no technical explanation.
I do understand that both are CDMA systems, and I do understand that CDMAs are not quite like GSM, in which we change the card and the identity is changed. What I would like to know from you guys is this:
1) is Solo Mobile operating in a totally different frequency band from Bell Mobility that we can't simply modify the hardware to go there?
2) if the above is not true, where can we find the proper tools to erase the Solo Mobile personality of this phone and create in it a personality that the Bell monkeys will take?
Thanks for any pointers, and cheers!

Re: Making solo mobile phone to work with Bell Mobility
Here is a C&P from CQD-Dude, a Bell CSR;
At the moment, Bell Mobility does not allow *ANY* cell phone NOT SOLD BY BELL MOBILITY on their network. *PERIOD*.
That means:
- No unlocked phones (yes, even if they told you everything gonna be fine on Ebay)
- No phones from other providers, Canadians or not (that includes SOLO Mobile).
- No 'yeah its a Sprint phone but Bell sells the same model' phone.
- NO!!
There is *NO* way to do otherwise unless you know someone at Bell ready to lose its job to make your phone work. No amount of pleading or screaming to a Bell rep will change that.
You might have heard people saying that they managed to do it before or even recently. In the past the politics changed from time to time so they sometime allowed phone from other providers on their network (usually only in analog mode however). This is no longer the case.
Also some dealer/agents have sometime some tricks to activate a non-Bell phone. Remember that this is considered a breach of the term of agreement (contract) and that Bell could close your account without warning and apply the penalty charges according to whatever contract you have.

Re: Making solo mobile phone to work with Bell Mobility
Hi, I just purchased a rather expensive Solo Phone via EBAY, yes I was told it was set up for the Bell Mobility Core Network.. However when I went to get it activated they said there was nothing they could do, after checking the ESN number, similar to the issue above.. joberger70's indicated he can transfer the phone?? to bell mobility, is this possible?

Re: Making solo mobile phone to work with Bell Mobility
Hi, let me know how we can make this arrangement? I am extremely frustrated that this Solo mobile phone parent company being Bell Mobility cannot be activated through my Aliant dealer. Are you certain that swapping the ESN, I will be able to activate it under an existing contract. I was told solo mobile phones were ONLY for prepaid purposes?
