    Hi

I am a new Bell subscriber. We now have a family plan which consist of a Samsung u740 and a LG Rumour. I must say I am very disappointed with the LG Rumour and the poor signal quality compared to the Samsung. We are going to exchange the Rumour I guess and try another one and see if it makes a difference. I am just wondering if the Rumour was just a poor choice and maybe like a HTC Touch would be a better choice for signal quality. Our choice of phones was limited.....the dealer said that they are in a transition stage for a new phone supplier. Has anyone else found the Rumour having a weak signal? Even with two bars the speech is almost unrecognizable. Any feedback on other users experiences would be helpful. Also has anyone tried any of the Wireless Extenders products to boost their signal quality. I'm looking at the YX300-PCS-CEL. I would be happy with a six foot radius in my home which gives me an acceptable signal quality. It's sorta like having a home phone on a cord, so I can live with that. Anything is better than what I have now.

    Thanks

The Rumpur is good unit, IMO, so not sure if yours is defective or not.

The retailer is getting a new phone supplier ? Ummmmm, Bell only has 1 supplier... so not sure what that means.

I have personal experience with Wilson Electronics amplifier units, and I can stand by them no problem. Not sure about the type you're looking at though.

    Thanks for the reply

So you haven't noticed any noticeable difference in the Rumour and the u740, so I guess we are safe to exchange it then with another one. I have seen some information relating to the Wilson Equipment, but I think it is a little more than I can afford right now. The "Wireless Extender" equipment seems to have a pretty small range, six foot radius' but it is about half the cost of the Wilson equipment I have seen online. We figured to give it a try first, we can always return it if it isn' what we want. Who knows the replacemant hand set maybe all we need. I am going to the dealer tomorrow to maake the exchange.
We were Rogers customers before. They do have a neat option now for customers in fringe areas that I looked long and hard at before we switched. It is the home phone option for selected handsets. Basically you rebroadcast your cellular signal in your home through your high speed wireless router. There apparently is a flash upgrade for your router to do this. I wonder if Bell has any plans in the future to compete against this new option for service in fringe areas?
The main reason we switched providers is that I felt the price for services through Bell is much less than Rogers.
I'll give an update after we try the new phone.

    Thanks

Maybe the new supplier has something to do with the fact that Aliant service is now run by Bell. Bell apparently bought them out recently, or something like that.

The @Home WiFi routers is something that's popping up more and more from providers in the USA. I'd assume Bell would pick it up as well, at some point. When is a good question.

Bell always owned Aliant, they just recently put the Bell "name" into Bell Aliant, that's all. Nothing much, especially from a network perspective, has changed.
