#1 | | Newbie | Phone is new LG 385 on Bell Mobility
I've been reading and searching to find a way to get mp3's, or any other filetype into my phone as a ringtone. The phone will allow the use of a voice memo stored as a .qcp file as a ringtone, but when I create, convert, properly name and store the .qcp file on the phone it doesn't show up. I even tried to copy out a .qcp file, change the number (Mem00002.qcp to Mem00003.qcp) and copy it back in, and the new file wouldn't show up. I've tried just about everything I can think of, now it's time for some help.
Nice enough phone, but the ringers, well, aren't for contractors!

#2 | | Newbie | I'm having the same problem. I'm starting to think it's not possible.

#3 | | Newbie | It wouldn't be so bad if Bell Mobility had any decent ringtones for sale.

#4 | | Latitude Wireless | Can you download an MP3 from the mobile browser and set it as a ringtone ?
What software are you using to create this .qcp, and, more importantly, what software are you using to upload it to the handset ?

No, I tried that and it didn't work.

To create the .qcp file I used QUALCOMM PureVoice Converter, but to use that you have to convert the mp3 to a .wav file (CDex), then to .qcp file.
I didn't use any software to get the file into the phone, I used my PDA with a wireless link to my pc, and bluetooth to my phone to copy the file over.

I don't assume any issue with the way you're doing it, but just to get that possibility out of the way.
Back to my other question, can the phone play MP3s (such as ones download through the mobile browser) ?

#7 | | Newbie | I uploaded a couple mp3 ringtones onto my website to download into the phone via mobile browser, but when I tried, the browser responded "The requested page cannot be displayed"
I don't have a USB cable for the phone, and frankly, I've almost become complacent with the darned thing. If there is an easy fix I'd give it a go, but honestly I think it's another bell squeeze.

Hmmmmmmmm, I don't know, I don't have any first hand experience with this partiuclar unit, so I think I'm out of ideas

#9 | | Newbie | Thanks for your consideration, I'm guessing you're right and it's a block. Oh well, I'll stick with foolish ringtones until something gets figured out, or I lose this phone!
