    Battery life

The one down side to the iPhone was battery life, which was due to poor coverage draining the battery to retain a signal, and open applications needed to support the phone's operation/functions.

The DRoid is in the same boat, except for coverage to keep a good signal strength, √erizon has excellent coverage. Applications is another story, when an application is open... it doesn't close, maybe the iPhone closes applications, I don't know, but the DRoid does not close application after using it.

Like any type battery operated toy, the more energy need from the battery to support the operation of the toy, the faster the battery will drain.

So there's an application called APP KILLER that you can download to the DRoid, when you open the app there's a list of open apps that are running, click on... KILL APPS.... and it shuts down open apps that would run in the back ground as your DRoid sit idle.

Turn off the Wi-Fi connection, and the Bluetooth if you don't need to run them. Also adjust your screen sleep mode timer.

Get a a extra battery and keep a charger handy if your on the go all day, you probably not going to have time shutting down idle apps, or, apps needed to run/support the function of the DRoid all day... i.e. GPS, Bluetooth, messaging, calendar, email, Internet, and of course in/outgoing calls.

The more your phone does, the more power you’ll need.

The Droid has taken the DARE to the next step into a smart phone class. Appearance is great and the feel is responsive, I mean I like holding this phone and its weight feels like POWER with quality.

Yes you’ll hear why doesn’t the DROID have this and not have that, its call marketing, if they gave you everything why would you buy another phone… lol

The DROID gave us a touch screen and a keyboard, I don’t use a keyboard, I like a touch screen, and its great and responsive. For you key board people… it slides out like an android body part.

The face screen is large and has HD quality offering three optional screens to scroll and add favorites, like Apps, Direct Message Contacts, and Phone contacts.

An issue I had with the DARE was accidental engagement of the screen while carrying it in your pocket/jacket/holster/pouch. The DROID has two steps, one is to awake the screen by pressing a button with some force on the top right, and the second step is to unlock the screen by touching and sliding an Icon from one side of the screen to the other side.

Battery life has and will be talked about, get over it, you want power, well it takes JUCIE, so until they develop a new battery technology, you’ll have to rethink your cell phone usage… i.e. chargers, extra batteries, closing Apps. Both the iPhone and now the DROID will eat up battery power, the DROID advantage is, the ability to change batteries, no external hook-ups hanging from the phone to recharge the battery or act as a power source.

Texting became easier with a great touch screen, suggestive word spelling, copy, cut, and paste option. I haven’t found and don’t think the DROID offers an “insert quick text” option like the DARE had, I really liked and use that option with the DARE, Oh Well.

The camera is great even though you’ll here some negative opinions about grainy snap shots and/or focusing problem, it takes great photos. The video camera is great, HD quality. The screen is large, bright, clear, and the audio makes watching and hearing video and/or music gives you a AWE.

If you like surfing the Internet you’ll like the Voice Command Search and a Google search bar always at hand with a microphone icon on the face screen. Surfing the Web is SURFING with ease. The DROID offers Wi-Fi connection, so I hooked it up with my FIOS for an internet connection, FLAMES came out of my DROID as I hit WARP speed . The celerity of the DROID”S screen makes looking at web pages with flash video a pleasure.

The Apps are cool and there is a ton of them, FREE and/or pay Apps. The DROID will take a while to explore and apply, so using it for three days is not justification for a final or complete review.

This is a Quick Hit review possessing the DROID for only three days… Stay Tune

    Droid

    A few quick hits here...

When your away from your phone an you receive a text/email or call, there's a small green indicator light which blinks on the upper right side indicating, message pending. I haven't found anything which will give a AUDIO reminder.

There is a so much going on with the DROID that you find new things about this phone everyday.

Apps that kill the battery are Wi-Fi, Maps/Gps, and bluetooth, so turn them on when you need them, and make sure there turned off when the apps are not in use.

I notice when i'm charging the DROID there is a clear LED type light illuminating from the USB charging connection, and when the charge is completed the light goes off. I have to keep an eye on that one.

Saving photos from the internet is easy, when your on a web page just hold down your finger on the photo and and a menu pops up, hit save image.

When i'm texting i find the pre-suggestive words very handy, and for you former DARE user, we're accustom to checking a text message to see a delivered conformation (verizon to verizon only) by the check mark next to the message which indicates its be receive by the recipient.

The DROID will do this but you have to make sure you apply message reports in settings, then... after you send the text message you press and hold the message and a menu pops up with options, press report.

There's documents showing how magnetic Droid phone holster/pouches can harm the DROID. See the below link that post bulletins about this issue and others, then judge for yourself.
