So I finally received a reply from Aliph, the makers of Jawbone.
1. Jawbone uses Bluetooth 1.2 specification and NOT 2.0
2. Jawbone has a reach of 33ft and audio transmission will still be clear
My thoughts:
1. It's a shame that Jawbone uses 1.2 technology. My Nokia BH-900 (the one I broke) uses 2.0 technology. If I buy the Jawbone, will this be a downgrade from my Nokia? I'm wondering...
2. To be sure, Jawbone's packaging says that the range of transmission is 33ft. In my experience with three other devices (Nokia BH-900, Belkin, Motorola something) they all had a range of less than 10feet. For the Nokia, above 8 feet and sometimes less than that, I start to hear static noise. Not good. And all these distances are much less than what printed on the package.
The Nokia BH-900's clarity is good enough for me. I don't speak in noisy environments so Jawbone's noise reduction technology will mostly be lost on me. But, I don't find the Nokia BH-900's range (or any other bluetooth headset I've tried) to be acceptable.
Any thoughts?
Wondering if anyone has experience with the Jawbone with their laptop or cell at a distance of say 10 feet plus.
