The worst of the worst. It uses the Nextel network, so coverage is abysmal.

Does have some features not offered on other prepaid plans:

"Walkie-Talkie, you can get at as many people as you want as often as you
want, nationwide, for only $1.50 a day"
"Now it's easy to access the Web, right from the palm of your hand. You get
access to your favorite sites, and all you pay is $0.20 a day, for unlimited
    usage"

The limited coverage maybe a problem but do wish they would offer more
markets/area codes boost works fine around Alabama but my number is in
    Delware.

Nextel's network covers most major metro areas, so as long as you're not
in the boonies, it'll be fine. you can certainyl forget about roaming
    with it though.

What surprises me is that Nextel seems to be going for extremes. Its
post-paid service demands almost spotless credit, and is geared towards
high-end consumers and businesses who have no problem with/don't care
about paying a significant premium for wireless service, even though the
network technology (and the data network underneath) is antiquated by
the standards of the other carriers. And on the pre-paid side, Nextel
has gone for the urban, booty-shaking, hip-hop,
    can't-afford-to-pay-a-regular-phone-bill-on-time market, whose credit
risk has been mitigated by putting them on a pre-pay platform. And yet
none of their offerings are aimed at anyone in between.

"Boost" mobile is **THE CHOICE** of "Gang-Bangers", "Dope-Dealers" USA
    wide.....
They even direct their advertisements towards these animals.
The reason? Nextel (provider for Boost) doesnt care what the **** they use
the system for. They openly talk about illegal activities on Boost 24 hours
    a day.
These animals can't get credit, don't want their activities tracked and
Nextel does JUST THAT for them. A $1.50 or so a day is chump-change for a
dope dealer to have unlimited "Direct-connect" with his Homies.
So the next time you see/read about a home invasion robbery, a armed
robbery, a major drug deal, a driveby shooting you can bet your ass it was
carried out with the help of a "Boost-Mobile"

Yeah, I've heard the same thing about other prepaid services too... I
believe it. Hell, people used to say the same thing about pagers. I used to
carry a pager! Damn, I'm busted!

Are you this much of an idiot when you're not posting to a cellular

I use to carry a 2-way radio and was called "5-O" didn't make the connection
till I got the police discount for some food. Oh well guess people are quick
to make judgements. Have to say the Boost web site isn't aimed at AARP
members but I like to buy inspite of the marketing not because of it. Oh
another discount is white lab coat at the hospital cafeteria.

Yes, interesting that their ad slogan is "Where you at?", isn't it?? I
imagine Nextel checked with the folks who run billboard companies, and were
told that if the slogan was "Hey Mo---- Fu-----, where you at?" they
wouldn't be allowed to put it up anywhere. I'm sure that revelation sent the
ad copy people scurrying around trying to come up with a "clean" slogan...

Also interesting is the name, since "Boost" is slang for auto theft - LOL.

As much as I don't like stereotyping, advertisers do it constantly, and in
this case, the target audience is unmistakable.

That being said, I really want a(n) (unlocked) Boost as a toy to play with.
Once in awhile I'll Direct Connect a couple of friends in Florida and
interrupt their lunch or dinner to abuse them verbally. Worth the $1.50 for
    the day.

I wouldn't say that Boost is THE choice of gang bangers and dope
dealers. They do however, clearly market themselves to an urban hip hop
crowd almost exclusively and almost in a patronizing way, and no other
    carrier currently does that.

That said, not everyone who listens to hip hop is a gang banger or a
    dope dealer.
