I remember when Boost was growing so fast that Sprint released a news statement that they were no longer going to promote Boost Mobile. Then a few weeks later, they not only started showing even more ad's, but they started offering unlimited plans for use on the Nextel network. Which is crazy, because you can just buy an unlocked Nextel phone, pop in a Boost
SIM card, then everyone would think you have Nextel. But you would be getting unlimited service at a giant discount over Nextel customers.
Sprint is talking about dumping Nextel. So the Nextel
iDEN side of Boost Mobile would go with that. Nextel is dieing out and yes, the prepaid customers are to blame for a lot of the spectrum hogging.
Nextel will either be it's own company within the next 2 years, or be sold off to the government and Sprint will just keep the Boost brand. The government deal is the most likely of the two. But
iDEN is 10 years past it's prime and can not compete with WiMax,
CDMA, WCDMA, ect.
iDEN and WiDEN are DEAD!
