I like the features of the HTC Touch Pro, but am on the 4th one due to problems with them! I HATE Sprint, am out of contract and own the phone.

I am considering Boost Mobile due to price obviously. I like having a phone that is god for text (Full keyboard slider) and good at internet. Boost has a pretty piss poor selection of phones right now. Is there any way to use the HTC with Boost? Does Boost have plans for adding better phones to their market?

I may just sell the HTC and get the i9 phone and not worry about it anymore. Hate paying for Sprint, can't justify more than double the price to get the same thing.

You can't use the HTC-Touch with Boost mobile. Two totally different cellular technologies.

Sprint uses a CDMA network. Boost Mobile is iDEN. Currently, the only phones that have iDEN support are Motorola, because Motorola invented the iDEN network.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Boost Mobile uses a SIM card. And although, yes, it's a SIM card, this doesn't mean that you can buy any unlocked SIM card phone (Blackjack, Blackjack II, IPhone are some examples) and use it with Boost either. Most SIM card phones are GSM, and aren't compatible with iDEN.

I know, it sucks, because I would love to use Boost Mobile as well, but I can't give up my Smartphone for saving $10 a month.

The actual boost website offer only nextel network but if you can find a phone like motorola W385 ( I get 2 w385 and activated this month ) you still can activate with the plan from sprint network (CDMA), check on boostmobiledotcom/activation/ on the right side on orange font color, what I was read you need first activite the plan with a boost compatible phone after you can call the customer service and change the ESN #, is a little difficult but can be done. Any way you have to find really good information because not all the sprint cell are compatible, I have a mogul model TITA100 and I ask a person and he say is full compatible , maybe your touch too.

Re: Have HTC-Touch Pro w/Sprint, want to switch to Boost Mobile

Well,. Sprint uses CDMA, Boost/Nextel uses iDEN. Two totally different technologies, two totally different radio frequencies.

Think of of it this way. Think of iDEN as AM radio. CDMA as FM radio. Sure, the basics behind the AM and FM are the same (radio waves), you can't pickup AM stations on the FM band.

iDEN uses the 800Mhz Band - 806-824 and 851-869Mhz frequencies,
    CDMA uses a multitude of frequencies, 824-849, 869-894, 896-901, 935-940, 1850-1910 and 1930-1990 (Analong & Digital).

Sure, the 824Mhz and 869Mhz are on both, the first 2Mhz and last 2Mhz are usually a "Buffer Zone" to prevent other radio frequencies from bouncing into each other.

If you want proof of this, using a Boost/Nextel phone, while either using the PTT, transferring data, or on a call; put the phone near a Radio receiver (like in your car) with the volume up. You will hear "pop pop pop pop pop pop". That would be the radio waves bouncing into each other.
CDMA phones don't do that when they are using the Digital band.

Long story short, you can try if you want, but I personally think that it is a lost cause.

ricdegre is definately correct...you CAN use a Sprint phone (certain Sprint phones) on Boost...but you have to try to get the Customer Service Rep to change.

Re: Have HTC-Touch Pro w/Sprint, want to switch to Boost Mobile

The previous poster was correct about Boost using the iDen network. They also use Sprint's CDMA network for all their phones that are CDMA (all three...)

You can still get CDMA service through Boost, and I personally have an HTC Touch Pro with Boost service, so it can be done.

Telenav doesn't work, so I use google maps and bing... I just have an annoying data error here and there, but it all works fine.

Your best bet is to get a CDMA Boost phone first, to get the CDMA service, then change the ESN with Boost after the fact.

This info is so INCORRECT! and it is discouraging to see that these people reply to questions when they don't have their facts right. I have BOOST with CDMA service!
