Everybody has the unequivocal right to change their mind at will, right? This is what is happening in the state of Pennsylvania, as that state is abruptly and suddenly questioning the marriage between Verizon and MIC after only a year and a half after official approval was given to the deal from federal regulators. In Jeckyll & Hyde fashion, a state court in Pennsylvania all of a sudden found that the Public Utility Commission "did not study the anticompetitive effects of the merger." This after about 18 months, eh? Sounds fishy to us -- real fishy, as we're sure that there were possible anticompetitive issues 18 months ago, just like there may be now. Will the merger benefit customers? Is is anticompetitive? How will this affect Verizon Wireless (if at all?). A state court in Pennsylvania wants to know. Will additional merger conditions be imposed after all this time by a single state? Seems there are so many possibilities here that we won't be resting until the Keystone State comes clean with its real intentions here. Perhaps Verizon should be quaking in its boots for fear of some serious wrath -- served Pennsylvania style.
