Skype has finally released a beta of their VoIP software for Windows Mobile-powered Smartphones (a
version for Pocket PCs has
been around since last year). The catch? You can’t actually use it to make voice calls, something which pretty much
defeats the purpose of having Skype on your cellphone in the first place (though you can use the beta app to do instant
messaging with your Skype contacts). So why’d they leave such a central feature out of the beta? They say it’s because
the “CPU power and network connectivity of currently available phones” simply aren’t sufficient for making Skype voice
calls.
