Motorola is breaking into the handheld space with a new rugged Windows Mobile
Smartphone, the HC700-L. It looks to
be the first in a line of rugged handhelds from Moto, and it’s a good start with WiFi, Bluetooth,
iDEN and a barcode reader. Obviously
this is targeting the corporate space with the push to talk and barcode capabilities, which are even further enhanced
with GPS to record location data of scanned items, but we sure wouldn’t mind toting this around and doing a little
inventory management with our widely dispersed DVD collection that seems to reside everywhere but the shelves of our
home theater. We’re still looking for a pic and there’s no word on price or exact availability, but it should be coming
soon to a corporate entity near you.
