Forget about looking for a decent cellphone with MP3 functions.
If Korea’s Altgen has its way, you’ll be able to make and receive phone calls using your audio player. The company’s
recently unveiled PAN-300VT is an audio player that is able to make and receive calls via a Bluetooth cellphone. While
the PAN-300VT isn’t the first audio player to use Bluetooth to interact with a cellphone, most such units only allow
calls to be received, not made. However, the Altgen player lacks a keypad, which means calls need to be initiated
either via a voice-dial service, or using the rocker-style controller. Still, it’s a good step in the direction of
carrier and phone-independent merging of music and cellphone service.
