Yeah, we know Engadget's been a little heavy
on the cellphone news lately. The number of new phones being announced has grown exponentially over the past couple of
years, something which has made it difficult to satisfy those readers who think there is way too much cellphone news on
the site, as well as those who are perplexed (and sometimes upset) when we skip over a handset announcement or some
other tidbits. So rather than try and split the difference and make increasingly difficult decisions about what news we
should cover and what we shouldn't, I'm proud to announce the launch of Engadget
Mobile, a new spin-off site with obsessive daily coverage of the world of cellphones and wireless.
Engadget will still continue to hit all the major cellphone news (there will be some overlap in posts), but Engadget Mobile will be able to offer a depth and breadth of coverage that
simply isn't possible on the main site. That means more handset reviews, product announcements, and industry news and
gossip, as well as coverage of topics that we've never tackled very well on the main site like mobile software,
wireless gaming, moblogging, and ringtones. We figured this was a very good week to get things going, and
so to welcome Engadget Mobile to the family we're going a little overboard and giving away a cellphone a day for the
next 30 days. This week we're offering winners their choice of a Treo 650 or a Treo 700w, check out the site for full
details on how to win. P.S. - Yes, both Engadget and Engadget Mobile will be getting cellphone/
PDA-friendly
mobile versions. We're working on it!Read*|*Permalink*|*Email this*|*Linking*Blogs*|*Comments
