LG Dare hands-on

Filed under: Handsets, LG, Verizon Wireless

We spent some touching (get it?) minutes with the new LG Dare that's hitting Verizon Wireless today, and while we didn't come away from the experience a changed human being, we've gotta congratulate LG and Verizon for the obvious effort they've put into this unit. Particularly with the hardware the phone seems determined to differentiate itself from its iPhone competition, with helpful tactile feedback while typing, (almost helpful) handwriting recognition, video recording (in slow-mo, if you'd like) and even editing, and the beefed-up photo taking capabilities that a 3.2 megapixel sensor and built-in flash provide. The basics aren't too bad either, with a sturdy and bright screen, peppy EV-DO Rev A., expandable memory and a flush 3.5mm headphone jack.

And yet another iPhone knockoff. What they do not comprehend is it is not only the "
look" and design of the phone that people like, but the actual interface/gui that people really like..

I agree this does seem to be another knockoff of the iphone but then again, must admit that i have never actually held this phone and from the pictures i have seen, it does look alot better than the very awkward iphone!

does anyone know how to auto save your pictures. after i take a picture i have to tell it to save or delete or etc. is there a way just to save the pic?

Also is there any software that allows the text to be like an im? I like to see what the text said as I reply.

Thanks!

The keyboard is hard to learn but i am getting better just takes practice.

Re: LG Dare hands-on

I've had the Dare for about two weeks now.

Of course it's no iPhone- the iPhone is a smartphone, the Dare is a feature phone. You can't compare those two, obviously the iPhone has a lot more advanced capabilities.

When compared to the rest of Verizon's lineup, the Dare has blown me out of the water. It functions very well and is feature packed. I highly recommed it myself.

I would not mind getting this phone. Except I have a feeling in the sun it may get washed out and I am outside most of the day and want to be able to see the keys on my phone. Other than this I would not mind it at all.
