COLOGNE, Germany (AP) -- The U.S. men's Olympic team did more than merely lose. It was embarrassed and exposed in its most lopsided defeat since adding NBA players in 1992.

Losing an exhibition game for the first time when using professional players, the Americans were completely outclassed by lightly regarded Italy, never even making it close in the fourth quarter of a 95-78 upset Tuesday.

i swear US citizens WILL call for all of you to be deported if you 12 dont come back with gold. i dont care if your name is iverson, lebron, duncan, etc. we want more than 40 point blowouts, we want you to absolutely EMBARRASS the other countries- ANYTHING LESS WILL BE UNACCEPTABLE.

theres a lot of things i can say about the puerto rican blowout, but i would have to ban myself for the explicitness

all i'll say in a calm voice is the 12 of you are not welcome back in the states. you dishonored our country and pissed on everyone whos ever represented the states before you. you pissed on all the ballers from the city to suburbs, the streets, in the gyms, the farms... everyone who's ever picked up a basketball. you've soiled the sport forever. so go on and win your now worthless gold medal and return home to your mansions and your $100 million contracts... too bad all the money in the world cant take away this embarassment

that display was an absolute disgrace. i think the clippers/magic could have put out a better effort. quite frankly these players need to get their heads out of their @sses and make an attempt. i mean come on, they got absolutely destroyed. the "team effort" really wasnt there, it was a sloppy game, AND HOW DO U MISS LAYUPS!!! gimme a break, i truly hope these guys realize that they've basically ruined their reputations as basketball players

Whatever remained of America’s aura of invincibility slipped away, too, in a shocking, lopsided loss that left their coach embarrassed and angry.

Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson and the rest of the U.S. basketball team fell 92-73 to Puerto Rico on Sunday, only the third Olympic defeat ever — and first since adding pros — for the nation that ruled the sport for three-quarters of a century.

It was by far the worst defeat for a U.S. men’s team, coming in the Americans’ first game of the Athens Olympics. Having it happen against a team they had dominated in the past 13 months only made it hurt worse.

why didnt we just send the damn pistons... they know all about embarassing teams. i guarantee you the scores would be like 90-something to 40. look what they did to the laker team with the most dominant inside force and arguably the most prolific perimeter player in the world- it was an absolute lockdown. what do u think detroit would do to these countries?

pathetic again losing 94-90 to lithuania. do these guys have any clue about defense, teamwork, hustle. when i watch it looks more like an allstar game, but at least at the all-star game there isnt a turnover every other possession
