changing phones...?

hey guys

what's cingular's policy with switching a phone. for example, if you had a phone with a 2 year agreement, can you go about switching the phones without changing or renewing the plan? i'm sure that they'd charge you something, but i was jsut wondering if its possible.

thanks

If it's a gsm phone (with a SIM card) that is from cingular or is unlocked, you can go about switching phones all you want, just by switching SIM cards.

as said above, you can swith GSM phones. The one thing that people dont think about is... if you get another phone, whether it is another cingular phone, or a new(unbranded) phone... you need to take it to cingular so they can put your IMEI number in the system for insurance purposes. Your phone will work without doing this, but if you ever lose/damage your phone, cingular will replace the phone that is attatched to your account.

you can switch phones if you want. you would just have to pay for it at retail, if you buy it at the store. you can keep you # and the same rate plan. but be sure, if you dont have a gsm phone, that the coverage area is good for you. since this is a new network there is limited coverage. but i would suggest changing your plan. the new plans are so much better.

Ok i have a $39,99 plan, and i think my contract is for 2 years, and i want to switch phones, do i have to pay full price for the phone? or can i just switch with reduced price, and if i have to pay full price, can i extend my plan for another year and get a phone at reduced pricE? thanks

just like the previous reply states change your SIM card. If you chnage your phone on the acct you will be charged an 18.00 upgrade fee on yournext bill after the change but as far as gettting another phone for free and you are already in a 2 yr contract you will have spend 21 months, and 75.00 or more and not have more 3 susp on your account in the past year to be eligible for a free upgrade og a phone.
