I want to get a new phone for my cingular. i currently have a tdma phone and want gsm. i belive in my area they have 850/1900. if i get a phone that has the dual band 900/1900, would it work with my cingular. i understand somewhat the different frequencies, but dont know if the 900 and 1900 are seperate channels.

    thanks

If you get a 900/1900 phone, and your area is 850/1900, only the 1900 will work.

850/1900 are for the Americas while 900/1800 are for the rest of the world.

According to gsmworld.com, Cingular uses 1900, so you should be ok with the phone you want.

thanks for reply. what would be the difference in 850 and 1900. if i purchase a phone that is 900/1900, would it work with cingular. do i have to do something to change it to start using the 1900 instead of the 850. i noticed the most phones are 900/1900 and want to make sure i get the right one.

    thanks

    alex
