I was just wondering if anyone knows if the cell phone companies can trace calls like they can from your home phone. I have been receiving hangups from private numbers, and it is getting to the point where i have to turn my phone off, which is really unfair.
If anyone has any info that would help I thank you. I'd rather not sit on hold with the wireless company for nothing.

Absolutely! I'd call the phone company first... they can easily trace and block callers and if necessary contact law enforcement if a crime may have been commited. By law, however it's a three part process... and they'll usually only go after somebody if all 3 requirements are met... the first being that a single caller called your number at least 3 times within a specified amount of time... depending upon your location.

Has the caller ever said anything to you over the phone? Left messages or used obscene language... anything like that?

The code for tracing a caller is *57 you will be charged a fee and you will not be given the number either but the the next time you receive a similar call... dial this and a trace will be put on the last call made to your phone.

There are also numerous private investigators, computer programs, and companies out there that can also help you out but for a fee. If you have more than a basic knowledge of phones you might even be able to trace the call yourself...
