This is my very first post. I hope someone out there can help me.

My son just left for the Army. He is presently in Basic Training. He wanted me to place his Cingular phone on military suspension for the next 4 months. (Cingular did this same service for my older son just last year.) But right now, Cingular refuses to do so because they now only suspend for duty abroad.

I will respect their new policy, but I would like to register a complaint with them for making this new decision. After all, it isn't like our soldiers make soooo much money in basic that they can throw it way on non-use of cellular service. While in basic, a soldier's pay averages out to $.75 per hour.

When I asked customer service for the number or name of the manager of the military suspension department in order to register my disappointment, she said she didn't have any names or numbers I could contact. I only could fax my concerns to a general number.

Does anyone reading this post have any Cingular names or numbers which you might be share with me? I just can't let this go by without speaking up for our soldiers.

    Thank you for your efforts,

    INTHEARMYNOW

I work for Cinguar Wirless the policy on military susp is that the account can be suspended is the service member is stationed in a area where Cig Wireless provides no coverage for. We provide service where your son is stationed. The only way he could suspend his account is to have been assigned where we have no coverage. If that were so would have to fax a copy of his orders to cingularwireless to show for example he was stationed like overseas someplace where we provided no coverage. The orders will be verified with our legal dept. So no he cant suspend his acct if he is in a area where we provide coverage which is everywhere in the US, Vigin Is, Hawaii, Pt Rico. I susp acct daily for this if the member is overseas the susp is for a total of 18 months and the member would have to contact us to extend it passed that if they were overseas or if the member did not extend the military susp passed the 18 mos then we cancel the contract. The other option your son would have is to transfer of service to a family member to get out of the contract. If you need more advise pls feel free to ask me

If cingulairman knew anything about the military, He would know that when in training you are NOT ALLOWED to use a cell phone or any other device. You are not allowed to keep anything in your pockets at any given time. So why pay for all those months if you CANT USE IT?

Well I do understand having spent 12 yrs in the U.S. Marines Corps. I was just responding to your issue of the military susp policy with the comapny I work for now Cingular. The policy is what I stated before you dont like the policy then have your son who is the account holder buy his way out since he does not meet the military susp policy of being in a NON COVERAGE AREA LIKE OVERSEAS. You ask a good question? I see now dont sign or obligate yourself to a contract with a company before you view all the options......I gave you rules of engagment with the military susp policy so since he does not meet that then good luck with the bill and paying the monthly rate plan. If he's choice his not pay for it then he will have a bad credit report of non payment. I tried to help with your question and issue you had. Iwill leave you with your stupid reply and immature statement. Dont bother asking me anything in the future as far as your money issue with my company.

We dont determine if you going to need a pocket to stick you cell phone in when you sign up for service with us . Only people that complain about things do that.........your son is grown man and no one at cingular forced him to signup for free phone and 2 yr committment. Since your his mommy or daddy maybe you can handle the money issue for your little boy who has no pockets to keep his phone in. I do understand that he cannot have a phone in bootcamp be there done that in the US Marines he conflict is something he will have to live with or in this case pay for SO PAY UP OR BAD CREDIT WILL FOLLOW. Smarty I simply gave you the rules at our company and I see like your son you dont get it or can't read the policy ................oh well no more from me on the issue since you are having trouble understanding the policy your SON AND YOU FAILED TO READ OR IGNORE ................
