Can't you do this from most phones? I thought most phones could ignore calls from a specific number... maybe not though I've never actually done it.

See More: Anyone know what this # mean?

Of course you can block numbers on a wireless account. Wtf?
For those of you who don't know how, just ring up your provider they can block it.

I do it all the time Brian... I don't know what this Tony is talking about... he must have misunderstood what you meant or he's thinking of something else.

That might be the case in your part of the world, but with Cingular one doesn't have that option here.... so before you come in here pretending to know research before you speak.

    whos' you service provider?

It has nothing to do with location so before you come in here pretending to know what you're talking about perhaps you need to try a little research yourself sir, hmn? My service provider is listed on the left of my post btw... duh. I hope the rest of the mods on here know a thing or two about cellphones?!

But Brian... since nobody else seems to be able to help you out... there are a number of options available to you but, I'd ring up your provider first to see what options they suggest before you do anything. Most companies offer what they call a call screen... (depending on your provider) or*60... I believe that's what that other guy was most likely thinking ... and that may not be availabe through Cingular... of that I'm not certain but your provider will know. Also, a determined caller can easily bypass that with a little knowledge via a hack..., which I suspect considering this number was obviously modified, they will be all too aware of this technique. You can also just have it sent to voicemail via prioritising your calls that you'd most likely want to answer... this requires you entering all the calls you'd like to accept, however. Over there they have laws too to prevent telemarketers and such from calling you and by law they cannot call you again or risk prosecution if you tell them not to call or call this number from your cell phone 888-382-1222. It blocks your number for 5 years. As far as laws go, you can call the police but there is a three part process in order to press charges against a harassing caller unfortunately, you don't seem to meet two necessary parts to that criteria as they are merely calling your number. If you know a thing or two about phones there is something you can do that way to permanently eliminate a specific number. Worst case scenario however, would be to simply change your number. I Hope that helps.

Tony is right. With Cingular it is not possible to block one number. Go ahead, call and try to get it done... that is what you should have done to start with anyway. But you won't get anywhere.

Who cares if it can be done with another carrier, this is a cingular forum & a cingular customer - it doesn't help.

    *DUH*? nice choice of words...

Oh we know a thing or two about cell phoes, the one that seems to be confuse here is you...the reason why i asked about your service provider is so that the rest can see that you speak of a provider that's not even used here in the states.

I repeat Cingular does not have that option here...
you just typed that long post and the best you can do is suggest to change the number?....obviously!

go back and do more research before you try to come in here to school me about wireless networks.

    This thread is done.
