#1 | | Newbie | I was wondering if Cingular or anyone for that matter, could tell what model phone you were using by calling you, or if they could in any way at all?

If you just switched your sim card into another phone, they can't tell which model you have.

However, you can't put it into a Verizon phone because does not use sim cards in their phones.

#10 | | Member | the # sign thing...maybe that works with t-mobile...i can't say...but it does not do anything with cingular. For a while our computer system used to say what type of phone you were using when we entered in the IMEI (serial) number, but they have since removed that (atleast from our computer system). So ours doesn't flat out tell us anymore what phone you have, but sometimes we (being the reps) can tell just from looking at the formatting of the phones IMEI number. However Cingular can tell just by that serial number...and they use it for their exchange by mail service so they can tell what phone to troubleshoot/replace.

#11 | | Member | When you buy a phone plan they put the model of phone that you buy on ur account, so when they pull up your account they see what you have, unless you change it without telling them | | |
