I searched the google but was unable to find any information about authorized dealer commission. So I come to this site for help.

Anyone know how much does the dealer gets for commission? I heard from my friend that the dealer gets $400 something for one line and for an additional line they get $200 more.

For example if I were to get 4 lines and I take the $69.99 plan which is one line and additional line is $9.99.

    4 lines - $70+10+10+10= $100 x 12 months = $1200 the customer need to pay + taxes.

If the dealer gets $400 for one line and $200 for additional line then for 4 lines

$400+200+200+200= $1000 commission to the dealer.

How can Cingular afford for this? $1200 -1000 = $200 in profit. Can some help to clarify this? thanks

I asked the sale guy and he said they earn at least $900 for 4 lines minus the cost for 4 phones. If 4 phones cost $600 then they get $300 profit.

It's no where close to what your saying. I work for an authorized agent, and agents actually make less per line on a family talk than on a single line. I can't give specifics as to what agents are paid as that is confidential, and different agents may be paid different amounts.

This is true unless someone can provide additional information. The payout is for family plan. For example take the $70 plan from Cingular and $10 x3 = $30 for additional 3 lines. I went to the an authorized store and they said they have $700 credit for 4 lines and $200 in rebate from Cingular. Cingular must of pay the agent more otherwise the agent make nothing.

For Family plan the agent get $400 for the first line and $200 for an additional line.

Well obviously the agent makes something, or we'd be out of business. Don't get me wrong, the agent makes a pretty nice profit especially off of new customers more than anything. Agents don't make nearly as much on upgrades, and that's why some agents charge more for the phone, such as my dealer.

How Cingular or any wireless service provider can pay the authorized agent so much for the plan. In example if I get the 70 plan and open 4 lines which is $100 a month and for 12 months I only pay $1200 a year. If the agent is offering $700 + $200 rebate that's $900, then the net profit for the agent is $300 because $1200-900 = 300. But my friend which work at Cingular said the company gets for 4 lines around $1050 (1st $450 and $200 x3 = 1050) from Cingular. Therefore, obviously Cingular does not make anything from the plan but make $$$ from overcharging like when customer uses more minutes. If the above information is not true let me know how does this really work.

This is my third post to you regarding this subject. They don't pay the agents that much money like your suggesting. I'm now done with this subject.

He can't tell you because its confidential, get it?
Different dealers are payed different amounts as well, depending on a lot of different variables, such as the stores total number of activations for that year, residual income from their existing customer base, the rate plan the customer chooses (single nation plan, regional, familytalk), whether its a New customer or a Replacement of equipment (also known as an upgrade) etc. So in short...its not nearly as high as you think, it varies from store to store how much they make, and its confidential, meaning even if you could get an exact number (which is impossible), you wouldn't get it anyway because its confidential, meaning if you are outside of the company, you are not allowed to know.

If you seriously are that interested....work at a store for a month....if you make good money, stay there

by the way, to prove to you that it isn't as much as you think, Scott (the guy that posted in this thread before me) just left my store because he is not making enough money there. That should tell ya something.

ok here is the deal yes a dealer makes a ok commition but you have to relize if he makes a $200 commition for singing you up and he gives you say a v180 for free then he only made about 40 bucks in the long run if you are getting something like a treo and he sells it to you for 350 he made 20 bucks the commition is more to keep phone prices down. now one thing is they up the commition if it is 5 lines or more also the 9.00 add on is only about $100 commition but if he gives you a v180 for free he lost money so if you want soemone to cut you a good deal get seprate plans for each phone or take what you can get

Ps another factor is ow long your contract is the dealer gets more money for a 2 year then a 1 year but it is like a $30 diffrence.
