How can I Replace a Phone without Paying Full Retail

I'd like to get a Blackberry and have 4 lines with Cingular but I don't want to pay $399.00. Is there any way to get the rebate price they typically offer without adding another line? I only use 3 of the lines currently and would like to turn one into a Blackberry but not pay full retail, any suggestions?

It's a shame. Cingular, like all the other cell phone carriers, will give away the store to get a new customer but won't do anything to accomodate an existing customer.

I wish you luck getting a deal on the blackberry but I doubt you will get on.

have you tried ebay ?

You obviously don't understand how the cellphone industry works. Every company will lose money on a phone, to get you in contract. So, if we give you a free phone on a 2 year contract, we've probably lost on average $150.00 on the phone itself. We make our money back because of the commitment you signed.

With that being said, if I understand you correctly you think that Cingular or any other carrier should just give him any deal he wants even though he may not have fullfilled his contract obligation to Cingular. That's not how any smart cell phone company works. Customer's for some reason think they should just be able to walk into Cingular, and get a big discount on a new phone. Yeah right, we're a business, and Cingular is not going to lose money just because someone wants a new phone at a new customer price, that's why we created upgrades, and those requirements must be met with no exceptions.

The fact that we're even discussing this is ridiculous in this day and age.

Oh ok thatnks for clearing up. You totally proved your point that Cingular doensn't care about customers. You signed a contract and had that line put on there, it's not Cingular's fault that you're not using it or don't need it.

Maybe you should switch companies, because I'm sure another carrier wouldn't make you pay for a line that you're not using. I'm sure Verizon would just say "We understand sir, even though you signed a contract for that line, we'll cancel it free of charge, since you no longer want it, when would you like it effective?."

You guys make me laugh so hard, let me know how it goes.

Try eBay or the Buy Sell section of this Forum or another similar Forum (there are many), or call Cingular and asked them about used devices that have been returned either due to warranty or just because customer changed their mind. Good luck finding what you want.
