Ive owned numerous cell phones over the years, but never anything super fancy and never a smartphone. I recently took on a travelling position, which causes me to be on the road nearly every week. After seeing numerous fellow travellers with their decked out smartphones it got me interested, esp since Ive been extremely displeased with my current cell phone.

Ive been scouring reviews and forums and think Ive got the search narrowed down to the BlackBerry 7290 and the Treo 650, but have read so many advantages / disadvantages between the two, Im at a deadlock as to which I should get.

I work for a tech company, which email it vital, but not an extremely crucial part of my job like many upper mgmt positions may call for. Im a bit of a technophile, so I do enjoy tweaking and playing with whatever toys I can, but also dont have the funds to blow on the biggest and best (which is one of the reasons why Im not totally sold on the Treo- nearly twice as much as the BB!). I can also tell you that the company I work for currently does not have BES, which Ive noticed is a major selling point for the BB.

So Im hoping to get some final suggestions before making my purchase. Perhaps there are even ppl who have tried them both.

    TIA!

get the treo, it does WAY more than just emailing, which is what the BB is primarily for. Also, expandable memory is always good, which is what the treo has, i had the 600, but havent had the fundage to upgrade to the 650, so i have to wait before i can add the 650 to my collection of, well currently, 17 GSM phones, haha, i love it!

So you think the additional features is enough to make up for the nearly double in price?

well yea i do, the black berry is good for emailing and organizational things, but the treo can do mp3's it has a camera, the touchscreen is cool and it can do more than just email, not to mention that the treo has EDGE, which is the high-speed internet, so its all around better phone
